Taylor teaches, trains and runs the business with a positive outlook and a professional, forward-thinking approach. She is an accomplished athlete and a highly successful coach - Taylor and her students have seen tremendous results in all 3 rings, from the grassroots level to national championships, all across North America.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Taylor has had a love for the equestrian sport and a passion for competition since her childhood. Taylor’s parents, Gary and Joanne Brooks, established and operated Wynbrook Farm - a riding school, local show team and boarding facility from 1984-2020. Taylor’s natural talent was recognized at an early age as she found immediate success in the pony rings at both a provincial and national level, and later moved on to achieve goals in the junior hunter, jumper and equitation rings with multiple appearances at the Canadian Championships, the Royal Winter Fair.
After turning eighteen, Taylor stepped into working full-time as a professional and gradually took over the managerial role of her parents’ farm. In 2014 she started her own business, Taylor Brooks Equestrian Inc. with the focus of growing a competitive national show stable.
Following six successful years of operating a large equestrian facility with a multitude of services, it became evident that Taylor was ready to narrow the scope of her business and prioritize high performance athletes looking to excel at the top of the sport.
In December of 2020, Taylor and her husband purchased a farm of their own, and thus began Fox & Oak Farm - a full service equestrian centre and show stable, specializing in the high performance training and development of hunter, jumper and equitation riders, competing on the national stage throughout North America. Taylor’s program has produced multiple winners at the prestigious Royal Winter Fair, Canadian Hunter Derby finals and has qualified students for the United States Pony Hunter and Junior hunter finals.
Taylor has achieved numerous provincial and national year-end championships in the hunter, equitation and jumper divisions as a junior rider including three Regional Final Phase wins in the Canadian Equestrian Team Medal (CET) and two National Championship appearances at the Royal Winter Fair.
As a professional, Taylor has developed some of Canada’s most decorated young horses from the Baby Green to the Combined 3’6 Green Working Hunter divisions. Each horse went on to become highly successful partners for both junior and amateur owners across the country, claiming numerous national championships at the Royal Winter Fair.
Taylor’s extensive experience in the hunter and equitation rings laid the solid foundation for a natural progression climbing the ranks of the jumper ring. Taylor and her most recent mount, “Fernet VM”, competed across the country in the 1.40m and earned top placings at the National Grand Prix level. Taylor firmly believes that the cross-over between all 3 rings in addition to the incorporation of dressage fundamentals, has been instrumental in her overall success both as a professional athlete and as a coach.
